Set in the picturesque High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this project seeks to transform a pair of existing barns. Having recently moved out of London, our clients are creating their new dream home in the countryside.

The larger barn contains the existing house, boasting stunning exposed timbers. Any modernisations must be sympathetic to this beautiful, historic property. Our interventions will be subservient and understated, creating a harmony between the existing features and the modern additions. A new corten metal entrance porch will greatly increase the connection to the surrounding garden, as well as creating a more defined main entrance to the property. Elsewhere, small interventions will add a level of understated luxury to the barn, while seeking to celebrate the existing historic features.

 

Within the grounds, a second barn structure will be converted and extended to house a new dedicated home office space.

Both barns are currently within the planning deliberation period, with construction slated to begin in mid-2025.
