Utsav Jain was born in New Delhi and studied architecture at the University of Edinburgh. His career includes time at Studio Mumbai and Vir Mueller Architects in India, followed by Neri & Hu in Shanghai, where he led several award-winning projects from conception to completion.
Fergus Davis was born in London and studied architecture at the University of Edinburgh. He worked with Neri & Hu in Shanghai on high-profile public projects, and later with Selencky Parsons in London, where he delivered residential projects in challenging urban contexts.

At Studio Mango, we aspire to give meaning to everything we do through thoughtful and considered design. At the very core of our work is quality of space, celebration of light and a deep appreciation of materiality. Every project is informed by its unique context, whether that be something specific within a client’s brief, a historical detail or the cultural influences on a site.
Studio Mango is an architecture and design practice based in Shoreditch, London. The practice was formed in 2022 between friends and collaborators Fergus Davis and Utsav Jain. We work across scales and geographies, from carefully detailed homes in London and across the UK to larger civic and residential projects in India and China. For us, scale is never the defining measure of importance. Our aim is consistent, to create contemporary architecture that is generous, meaningful, and enduring.
Our name recalls the story of our first commission. While visiting Delhi, a mutual friend was presented with two fresh mangoes by Utsav and his family. That same friend returned the favour by commissioning our inaugural project. Beyond reminding us of where we started, our name is reflective of two important factors. It enables creative fluidity and collaboration beyond the realms of just pure architecture. It also champions the sense of enjoyment we place at the heart of what we do.
We see architecture as a collaborative act. We believe the best projects are created alongside others, be that clients, communities, consultants, or craftsman. These relationships shape our work, affording us flexibility and knowledge to move between scales, places and cultures.
